January.
The month we are encouraged to forswear drinking, normal food consumption and undertake group exercises in denial.
I thought it would be an appropriate time to give you an update on my recent commitment to something resembling healthy living (guess who's turning 40 soon).
Last February I joined a gym (see Diet and Fitness 2012) and wrote about the experience for Surrey Life magazine. I also started trying to eat more healthily.
I started at 12st 11lb, with the intention of reaching 11st 7lb by September. Fat, indeed, chance.
By June last year I was 12st 4lb.
Then, after trying to behave over Christmas AND keeping up my gym attendance AND not getting too serious about it I weighed myself this morning and I'm down to 11st 12lb.
So it's basically taken me a year to lose 13lb, which isn't brilliant, but it's heading in the right direction.
The trick, it seems, is not to eat too much.
